Operation Alula Aba Nega (Tigrigna: ወፍሪ አሉላ አባ ነጋ), commonly shortened to Operation Alula (Tigrigna: ወፍሪ አሉላ), was a counter-offensive during the Tigray War by the Tigray Defence Forces (TDF) against the Ethiopian Military and its allies in Tigray. The operation was named after Ethiopian general Ras Alula Aba Nega, who was of Tigrayan descent. The offensive was launched on the 18th of June 2021 – continued to the 28th June 2021 and has “liberated” vast swaths of territory across central and eastern Tigray, including the regional capital of Tigray, Mekelle. Dedebit Media has made a documentary film about this historic heroism. You must watch this film to witness how heroic Tigrayans are for your own.
