The question raised in the decision regarding the “organization of the special forces of the Amhara region in federal and regional security institutions” is “correct in view of the current situation; The decision taken at the national level is useful,” said the head of state, Dr. Yelkal Kefale. Due to “destructive propaganda” about this decision; The head of government also stated that some members of the special forces of the Amhara region left their camps and went to the cities and their families.
Dr. Yelkal said this about the current situation of the Amhara region to the region’s television station this Sunday, April 9; 2023 in their statement. “This is not something that affects the special forces of the Amhara region in a different way and the decision was not made in isolation. It was a uniform and national decision. It is done in every region. We believe that it is beneficial for the future construction of the country and promotes solidarity,” the head of the state emphasized in his statement.
However, the Amhara region is separated from other regions. “What is the way to raise a question should be clearly seen,” he said. “Though the question is correct given the current situation; At the national level, we should realize that the performance should go and is beneficial. Therefore, we can get out of this problem by cooperating, discussing and resolving problems and grievances peacefully and through discussion,” Dr. Yelkal expressed his hope.
Before the decision decided at the national level is implemented in the Amhara region; He mentioned that “efforts have been made to discuss the security structure step by step”. However, the head of the Amhara region announced in his statement on Sunday that “movements of special forces leaving the camp were seen in some areas before the discussion was completed.” They pointed out that this happened because of “destructive propaganda work” and “lack of information”.
