Dr. Kahsay Tadesse Mawcha

Dr. Kahsay Tadesse is a renowned academician and researcher in the field of Plant protection. With a passion for mycology and mycotoxin analysis, He has made significant contributions to the understanding of Fusarium mycotoxins and plant disease management strategies.

Born and raised in a small village, Dr. Kahsay developed a deep appreciation for nature and agriculture from an early age. This passion led him to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences from Haramaya University, where he graduated with honors. He furthered his education by completing a master’s degree in plant Pathology and a Ph.D. in Molecular Plant Pathology Studies from Hebei Agricultural University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kahsay has held various academic positions at Aksum University. He has been working as Head Department of Plant Sciences, Registrar and alumni officer, and delegated Dean of college agriculture. He has been an assistant professor of Plant Pathology at Aksum University for over two years, where he has inspired and mentored several students. Known for his engaging teaching style, he has developed innovative curricula and courses that integrate practical fieldwork with theoretical knowledge.

Dr. Kahsay’s research focuses on plant-microbe-environment interactions and integrated pest management strategies. He has published more than ten peer-reviewed articles in leading scientific journals, and his research has been instrumental in shaping Fusarium pathogen identification, characterization, and management strategies.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Kahsay is actively involved in collaborative projects with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and local communities. He believes in bridging the gap between academia and the real world, working towards practical solutions to Agricultural challenges, especially insect pests, and Plant diseases Management.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Kahsay enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, and exploring nature. He is also deeply committed to agricultural advocacy and promoting environmental awareness.
Dr. Kahsay’s passion, expertise, and dedication to Plant Sciences have made him a prominent figure in academia. His research, teaching, and advocacy continue to inspire the next generation of plant scientists and contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future.
